Flow Bee Suit - Mesh Jacket Kit

Flow Hive technology drastically reduces the chance of being stung during harvest, but if you drop a full brood frame during a routine inspection, you are sure to attract unwanted attention!

Even the friendliest hive can get cranky sometimes and these jackets are perfect for the beekeeper who wants convenience while also knowing their face, arms and torso are well protected.

Our Mesh Jackets are lightweight and easy to take on and off, which makes them a popular option around the Flow office.  Just make sure you’re wearing suitable protection below the waist!

Each jacket kit comes with accordingly-sized ventilated gauntlet goatskin gloves and a J-style hive tool, both items extremely useful for any beekeeper.

Featuring:

Triple-layer polyester mesh textile

This mesh fabric allows air to come in, while preventing nasty bee stings. With three intersecting layers of mesh, this fabric offers a raised preventative layer difficult for a tiny bee stinger to get through whilst allowing enough airflow to keep your body nice and cool. The lightweight construction means you will be happy to wear these jackets for extended beekeeping sessions.

Dual grade mesh fencing veil

We are really happy to have sourced this perfect fully removable fencing style veil. This mesh veil does not compromise on either durability nor visibility. Using a combination of high-gauge heavy mesh for solid protection on the flanks where increased movement requires extra strength, with a finer gauge mesh over the face for easier breathing and better visibility, this veil offers outstanding protection and practicality.

Chest, Hip and Sleeve Pockets

Once you have opened your hive - you will really want to be as efficient as possible, as the least amount of time you disturb the bees… well the less disturbed the bees will be.

Hive inspections often require additional equipment which can be needed at a moment's notice. This versatile jacket features 6 pockets located on the hips, chest and sleeves so that you can store all of your beekeeping essentials to ensure you will always be completely prepared.

All pockets are made from good quality, medium-weight cotton drill, with the chest pockets featuring an embroidered Flow logo and secure hook-and-loop fastening top flaps.

Elasticated Cuffs, Waistband and Thumb Stirrups

This jacket features elasticated wrist cuffs and waistband providing comfortable yet snug barriers as preventative protection against defensive bees. Thumb stirrups at each wrist will help keep your elasticised sleeves in place offering additional protection.

YKK zippers

High quality zippers which feature an oversized ring pull tab making them easy to use whilst wearing gloves. The rugged, plastic teeth are ideal for outdoor use as they will never rust and are extremely durable.

Elbow gaiters

When you’re moving around a lot tending your bees, the elbows on clothing can be put under a lot of stress and are often the first place to wear out. Padded elbow gaiters give extra strength where it’s needed most,  reinforced with cotton drill, these are designed to last.

Additional Information

This kit comes complete with Mesh Jacket, Ventilated Gauntlet Goatskin Gloves and a J-style hive tool handmade using German Stainless Steel. Please be aware that a beekeeping jacket is NOT a beekeeping suit. [You can have a look at those here]. It is important to wear additional protective clothing such as long pants (painters’ pants, jeans or sweatpants are great), a pair (or two) of thick socks, and good work boots to help prevent against stings.

What bee suit or Jacket size should I pick?

Bee suits and bee jackets are normally worn over clothing, so so we suggest you pick 1 or 2 sizes bigger than you normally wear.

It is generally recommended that you consider sizing your bee suit a bit larger size than normal clothing in order to accommodate wearing clothes underneath and for loose fitting. It is also recommended that if you sit on the edge of two sizes to consider selecting the larger size.

When gathering your measurements, also consider wearing clothes especially a sweater/jumper if you think you will need to wear this type of clothing under your suit when managing your hive during the colder months.

Important sizes are  "waist band circumference" which is an elastic waistband hence - tight/stretched measurements. You will want the elastic waistband to be fitting your individual size, as it stops the bees crawling up if it is worn over and not tucked into pants. Also the ‘torso body length’ - this will make sure your bee suit jacket waist band sits low enough to meet with your pants - and does not rise right up when lifting or reaching.

WHEN MEASURING YOUR OWN SIZE, MEASURE OVER CLOTHING AND GIVE PLENTY OF ROOM TO MOVE AROUND.  BEE SUITS AND JACKETS ARE WORN SLIGHTLY BAGGY OVER YOUR CLOTHING SO CHOOSE A SIZE WHICH WILL GIVE YOU PLENTY OF ROOM TO MOVE AROUND.
